Hey there! I’ve been craving an Italian dish all week, and with that in mind – I’ve decided to whip up a post about all of my favourite Italian spots in Galway (because there’s no doubt I’ll end up in one this weekend). Galway is oversaturated with divine Italian spots, but only some truly stand out. Here is a list of my fave to date.
Milanos is a national win win. Whether or not you live in Galway or Dublin, eating in a Milanos franchise is always a treat. If you’ve never eaten there before, be sure to order dough balls to start, followed by a fine pizza or pasta dish. A crucial addition to Milanos menu is calorie counts on some of their pizzas, to give those dieting a better idea of how many calories they are consuming. This place is a treat and a half, 10/10.
Dough Bro’s is the talk of the town, and I can understand why. Serving just pizza dishes, Dough Bro’s is renowned in the West, and becoming a go-to spot for tourists visiting. Their pizza’s are unlike anywhere you’ve ever tasted, and the atmosphere in- store is always hopping. There’s always a queue though, but tonight they launch a pizza shop in O’Connells pub and beer garden, so be sure to stop by. Dough Bro’s Pizza + A Pint = key.
The Pasta Factory
Alike Dough Bro’s, this place just serves Pasta (in case you haven’t already guessed).. Located in a small seated area, the Pasta Factory is quaint and simple, but serve delicious pasta bowls, served on organic made plates (which you can eat). I admire their recycling method and eagerness to save the planet. There’s nothing better than enjoying a pasta dish, knowing you’re being eco friendly. All pasta dishes are €10, and for the portions you get, this price is cheap and nifty!
Venice is one of my go- to spots for a fancy Italian meal, and is usually booked up, so it’s advisory to book in advance. This spot is your perfect Pizza/Pasta restaurant, and having eaten there many a times, I can promise you that the food is to die for. Although on the pricier side of things, Venice is the perfect location to celebrate an occasion, meaning every cent is worth it!
Located in the center of Salthill Village, Da Robertos is one of the oldest Italian restaurants I recall ever being in Galway. To this day, I still enjoy their food as much as the latter. This spot is the closest thing you’ll find to a true Italian restaurant. If you’re looking for something to warm that belly, I can not recommend their Spaghetti Bolognese enough! This spot is family and child friendly- it’s the perfect spot for a family day out!
Last but not least, another delicious Pizza spot is Pizza Napoli, located on Cross Street. This place is perfect for those looking for a quick bite, craving a whole lot of Italian food. At just €4 a slice, Pizza Napoli serve gigantic filling pizza slices, for both takeaway and in store. I cannot stress how big their pizza slices are. They’re the perfect “on the go” slices of pizza, and extremely fresh and delicious!
There you have it. My favourite pizza and pasta spots. Is anyone else starving now?
