Pancake Tuesday 2020: My Go To Spots

I’m just hungry at the thought of writing this post. With Pancake Tuesday falling this week, I have decided to write up a blog filled with some of the top spots in Galway to get a decent crepe or pancake- if you’re looking to eat out! Without further ado, here are my top pancake locations you have to try this Pancake Tuesday!

Java’s Creperie

Located on lower Abbeygate street, this spot is by far one of my favourite, and located in the city centre. From savoury breakfast crepes to cream filled pancakes, the choice is endless. I particularly love the essence of this café. Enjoy a frothy latte and listen to the buzz of French spoken waiters engage with their customers. The ambiance alone is enough to encourage you to go here on Pancake Tuesday! 9.5/10

Gino’s Gelato

This takeaway café has the most incredible crepe set up located in the back of their ice cream parlour. Fill your crepe to the brim with exciting ingredients (including gelato if you wish) and off you go! This petite café is located on Williams’ Street. The divine smell lingers on Shop Street, you truly cannot miss it. This Pancake Tuesday, Gino’s are giving away free crepes to those in the area, so if you’re around, get in while freebies last! 7/10

Mr. Waffle

Good ole’ Mr Waffle will leave your mouth watering for weeks after visiting. Just a minute’s walk from NUIG University and UHG Hospital, this restaurant is the hottest spot there is for both Pancakes, Crepes and Waffles. Their menu is to die for. Oreo pancakes. Strawberries and cream. You name it. They have it. By far one of the nicest places to visit this Pancake Tuesday. The staff are extremely warm and welcoming which is an added bonus! 9/10

Bubble Bees

Pancake Tuesday doesn’t ALWAYS have to consist of Crepes and Pancakes. Some people simply do not like them, or in some cases, prefer sweet potato waffles. Truthfully speaking, I prefer the latter, but I do enjoy a cheeky pancóga every now and then. Bubble Bee’s, located on Abbeygate Street, are known for their bubble waffles, which are filled to the brim with ingredients of your choice. A divine option this Pancake Tuesday! My go to is vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce & kinder bueno. If you’re looking to dine indoors and indulge a sweet waffle this Pancake Tuesday, Bubble Bee’s is the bee’s knee’s. Ha ha. 8/10

Maple Moose

This lovely location is a fantastic spot for those who may have young children or a large family. This bustling spot, located in Corbett Court Shopping centre, is exactly what you need this Pancake Tuesday. Their unique toppings will knock you off your socks. Not only are their pancakes one to try, but they also have some of the nicest milkshakes I’ve ever tried to date! 7.5/10

You’ve probably seen me mention Dela quite frequently throughout my blog. It’s one of my go-to spots for brunch in Galway City. Their menu welcomes all, from poached eggs on toast to fluffy American pancakes, the option is truly limitless. A couple of months ago, I visited Dela and tried their butterscotch pancakes, which to this day, make my mouth water. I was truly impressed by the combination of ingredients, including orange segments and honey glazed walnuts. A divine treat for anyone looking for the healthier option this Pancake Tuesday! 10/10

Pascals Coffee House

This café is located on both lower Abbeygate street and outside Corbett Court Shopping Centre (across from Topshop). Their fluffy American styled pancakes are certainly worth a try. Maybe you fancy a fruity combination or perhaps you enjoy savoury breakfast pancakes drizzled in maple syrup, one way or another, Pascals have the lot. There’s a true warm ambiance within this café, a cosy spot for friends or those with small families. 8/10
